Harlem

Harlem begins at 110th Street at the northern boundary of Central Park, and extends through 155th Street on both the east and west sides. On the west side it is north of the Morningside Heights neighborhood. Harlem began to see rapid gentrification in the late 1990s. The revitalization of 125th Street occurred with the construction of an outlet and a large retail and office complex called Harlem Center, completed at the corner of Lenox Avenue and 125th Street. The neighborhood is also home to the world-famous Apollo Theatre. Dining hotspots include Rao's (no tables unless you're a star) and Sylvia’s for down-home Southern cooking.
