The "Village" still maintains a unique place in New York City. It is home to New York University, The New School and Cooper Union. Washington Square Park is the site where the neighborhood gathers to
play chess, hold rallies and just soak up the sun on a summer day. The Village is roughly bounded by Broadway on the east, the Hudson River on the west, Houston Street on the south, and 14th Street on the north. Bob Dylan and other "folkies” began their careers in the Village.
